On the surface, Paramita defy a number of usual rock band conventions. For one thing, they don’t have a frontman, in both the “front” and “man” sense. The band’s haunting vocal melodies come from a woman, which isn’t exactly uncommon these days, except that in this case, this woman does her singing from behind the drum kit. And fortunately, Ria Bautista is a deft and agile drummer who could effortlessly keep up with the technical idiosyncrasies of her seasoned bandmates, bassist Alsey Cortez and guitarist Marco De Leon. Onstage, Paramita are impressively tight, like a three-headed creature that moves as one; when it flies, all three heads know exactly where to go.. -Jason Caballa Paramita is comprised of three simple yet vibrant musicians namely Ria Bautista (Drums and Vocals), Alsey Cortez (bass), and Marco de Leon (Guitar). The three got together during an open jam session at a local bar in Manila, Philippines. Since then, they have been battling the odds and striving for excellence. Paramita, is the Tibetan Buddhism term for perfection, thus they strive to attain this state in music. To them, perfection in music is simply a cohesive sound with words anybody can relate to. It’s more of the feeling of music than technicalities. Paramitas music is exactly that...simple, easy and heart felt. The one thing that separates Paramita from most bands is that Ria Bautista, plays drums while she sings live. And that counts for a lot of things. A mid-year album launch instead of a summer release has been decided by the band. We hope you guys won't mind the slight delay.
This April, 'Gatilyo' which is the 1st single off our upcoming record will premiere on NU107. Tune-in for further details or regularly check on this fanpage for updates.
Come May, the video for the single would be aired on numerous music video channels.
We also have plans of releasing Limited Edition CD packages which will include EXCLUSIVE material and lots of freebies.
